Unto US a CHILD is Born!!!

Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)

Look who we found atop our tree this morning!  Our angel will celebrate with us on this day as we celebrate the birth of our king.  She might take flight tonight up to Heaven and will certainly return next year as we celebrate once again.  You never know when she might pop back into your home.  We hope that your angel helped keep God the focus of your celebration this Christmas.  From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for sharing in this new tradition with us!

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matthew 19:14)

So bake your cakes today and sing Happy Birthday to Jesus! We pray that your family lives in his light and love this year and always.  Blessings to all!

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, REJOICE.”  PHILIPPIANS 4:4

In Everything Give Thanks…

Thankful for friends, thankful for food, thankful for family, thankful for our health, thankful for our country, thankful for our home, thankful for the sun, thankful for the moon, thankful for the birds, thankful for the fish, thankful for the sky, thankful for the photo 4oceans, thankful for the beach, thankful for clean water, thankful for each day, thankful for each moment, thankful for everything because everything good is from God…

Ask your kids to say or write down three things they are thankful for. Then, tell them three things you are thankful for!

Why We Give Gifts

“The Wise Men went to the house. There they saw the child with his mother Mary. They bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures. They gave him gold, incense and myrrh.”

(Matthew 2:11)

God gave us the first Christmas gift when He sent His Son Jesus! In return, The Three Wise Men brought three special gifts to thank Him for sending our Savior. How can we explain why we give gifts on Christmas? We give gifts as a symbolic gesture of thanking God for the gift of Jesus. We give gifts to show our love and  appreciation to others for the sake of giving, not receiving! This is the true Spirit of Christmas!

Here are a few ideas to teach your children about the spirit of giving.  Have them help you bake cookies for neighbors and friends.  Deliver them with your child! Help a family in need buy Christmas gifts for their children, or look through His gift catalogues and give to Him — the Compassion CatalogSamaritan’s Purse CatalogPartner’s International CatalogWorld Vision CatalogGospel for Asia Catalog.

Be Good

“We love because he first loved us.” (1 John 4:19)

When a child climbs on Santa’s lap in a crowded mall, the first thing Santa asks is, “What’s your name, child?” Do they know God already knows their name? Children sing Santa’s words by heart, “You better not cry..” Do they know Jesus promises to wipe away their tears?

We cannot realistically expect our little ones to truly seek God’s presence over Santa’s presents at such a young age. But what we can do is teach them God always loves them, whether they are naughty or nice! And being “good” is a natural reflection of truly loving and wanting to please God, our Heavenly Father!

Our angel showed up to remind us to “be good” because that’s how God created us to be!

A letter TO GOD!

What continues to amaze us is the questions the ANGEL sparks in our children’s minds!  She is consistently putting the focus back on God in a way we never imagined!

Have your child write a letter to God.  Ask them what they might want to say to him in this letter!

“Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”  Psalm 37:4

Your child has a Secret Angel that will hand deliver a message to God!  God wants to know their wishes and wants GOOD things for all of us.  Explain to your child that God wants a personal relationship with them and wants to know the desires of their heart!  Yes, they can even include that Christmas list!

This Little Light of Mine

Jesus said, “I am the Light of the world.”

John 8:12

Light reveals truth. It exposes what’s hidden in the darkness. If we follow the light it will lead us out of darkness. Jesus is the Light of the world! He is always there to guide us when darkness appears.

Please cut out the verse in back of the book (John 8:12) to display it as a reminder that Jesus is the Light!

Prayer: Father God, thank you for sending our Lord Jesus Christ to be the Light of the World.  May we lift Him up and let His light shine through us.  Amen.

For the Bible tells me so

Our Secret Angel showed up today to point out some of her favorite Bible verses for children.

Love God – Mark 12:30
Put others before yourself – Mark 12:31
Tell the truth – John 8:32
Do the right thing – Deuteronomy 6:18
Seek Wisdom – Proverbs 4:5

We as parents know that true faith only comes as our children grow to understand Him. But until then, we have the incredible responsibility of planting the early seeds of the Gospel message. Romans 10:17 says it much better than we can:

…faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.”

We hope your Secret Angel sparks a sense of wonder and excitement in your child’s heart for Jesus. Use these moments to teach your children what matters most!
